What's In My Camera Bag: 2026 Edition

20 February 2026·1 min read

After years of hauling too much glass through jungle, water, and airport security, I've finally dialled in my kit to exactly what I need — nothing more.

The Bodies

Sony A1 is my primary for wildlife and surf. 50fps, blackout-free, and AF that locks onto a moving subject and refuses to let go. It has never failed me.

Sony A7C II lives in the water housing. Lighter, more compact, and the 33MP sensor handles crop well for surfers at distance.

The Glass

  • 400mm f/2.8 GM — wildlife and surf at distance
  • 70-200mm f/2.8 GM II — the workhorse
  • 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II — travel and portrait
  • 16-35mm f/2.8 GM — aerials and landscapes

The Bag

Peak Design Travel Backpack 45L. The camera cube system means I can go from carry-on to full kit in 30 seconds. Genuinely life-changing after years of Pelican cases.
